Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When is shirt day at camp?
A: Any day the girls are welcome to wear their shirts. Many of them want to put them on the first day. But we would also like everyone in their camp shirts for Stake Night for all the ward and stake leaders that come to visit camp. So please, everyone wear your shirts on Thursday before dinner.

Q: What is the date for a girl to turn 12 where she can go to camp? A: If she turns 12 by midnight of August 31st she can go to camp.
Q: How old to tent moms have to be? A: Tent Moms need to be at least 21 years of age and approved through the Ward Young Women's President and then through the bishopric.
Q: Do YCL's have to go to camp on Monday the 17th of June? A: Yes. The YCL's have always gone up the day before all the other girls so we can get things set up and do training with the YCL's so they can be confident in their duties. We also have TONS of fun that day...trying to pamper our YCL's...so that they will want to come and help us in the future!! :)
Q: Do Tent Mom's really have to sleep in the same tent as the girls this year? A: This is an option. To do this correctly though, you need to have at least 2 tent moms per tent of girls AND put up a divider between you and the girls. This divider can be as simple as a sheet pinned up as a barrier. Each ward needs to provide their own "barrier." Otherwise your tent needs to be AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the girls tent.
Q: Can parents or other visitors come to camp to observe? A: Usually we just have visitors (bishopric and Young Women leaders)come to visit the girls during testimony meeting. If you have Young Women Leaders that want to come up and visit just have them let us know when they will be here so we know who will be in camp for the day. If they are staying longer than the day they will need to pay a camp fee to be there to cover the food and such. We really don't have accommodations for parents to come and visit. It often makes the girls homesick so we prefer they don't come.
Q: Are the t-shirts in women or men's sizes? A: We have requested to have them in men sizes so that they are longer than they are wide. We will double check again with our provider, but plan on men's sized shirts and plan your size accordingly.
Q: Can girls that are graduating from school this year attend camp? A: YES! These girls would be going as "Young Stake Staff" and would need to let us know as soon as possible so we can get names approved through bishops for callings for them within our staff duties. They also would pay the fee and sleep in the area of all the stake leaders.
Q: Can ward women that are on stake staff be used as tent moms? A: This year we have tried really hard to not use leaders from your YW presidencies in our staff.  So you shouldn't need to use any of our stake staff as a tent mom. We really need them to be with the stake this year.
Q: It says in the list to bring a life jacket. Do we really need one? A: We are hoping to be able to use the river unless there is a high snow melt. Anyone in the river MUST have a life jacket to be able to participate. So if every ward had 2-3 life jackets that should be sufficient.
